Fred Valentine is an artist and gallerist in New York City. He earned a B.F.A. from the Columbus College of Art and Design and a M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He moved to New York City in 1984. In the early 1990s he became part of a group of artists, activists, and organizers of guerrilla theater performance, happenings, and art exhibits in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In the spring of 2011 he divided his studio and opened a gallery called Valentine. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a grant from the Pollack Krasner Foundation, and was awarded a residency at Yaddo. His work has been reviewed and featured in the New York Times, Bomb Magazine, Time Out NY, and other publications.
